Depending on the area you are located, certain soils may be more dense and compacted due to many reasons and have very little nutrients, causing your plants to be weak and lifeless. In many cases, it is hard if not impossible to keep some plants alive in certain soils. Fertilizing along with aeration can help promote new growth as well as maintain the existing growth.
Trees and shrubs of all ages need fertilizing in order to stay increase vitality and new top growth as well as root health. The majority of plants that are planted in the wrong soil, are lifeless or that have been transplanted are younger, weaker plants. These especially need fertiziling, although fertilizing of older plants is still encouraged to increase vigor.
