Dethatching is the process of removing dead buildup such as leaves or grass clippings that have not or are slow to decompose. This layer of material usually exists between the grass root system and the top layer of your lawn. If exessive thatch is not removed from the lawn it can prevent the proper amount of oxygen and nutrients from getting to the root system, killing the lawn.
Aeration is the process in which small cores are removed from the turf to provide air to the root system. Aeration can also help to reduce soil compaction and help water and fertilizers to work their way into the roots of your lawn. Aerating is also sometimes referred to as core cultivation.
Moss is very similar to many common weeds in the sense that it takes advantage of the bare areas of your lawn, not necessarily kill off plants or grass around it. Moss control can be done effectively by applying a various array of natural chemicals to the lawn such as Ferrous Sulfate.
Moss buildup can be caused by many things such as poor drainage, diseased areas in the lawn, improper mowing or an improper variety of grass for your soil. It is recommended that moss control be applied at least annually.

Overseeding when applied at the right time can drastically improve the appearance and health of your lawn. Insect control is highly important to maintaining a healthy and thriving landscape environment. Insects are a large cause of many plant diseases and will often times consume the entire plant and much of its surroundings. Many insects such as the European Crane Fly feed on the under layers of the lawn and can completely kill off an entire lawn at an alarming rate. These insects feed on the root system in the winter seasons, often times making it impossible for the grass to get enough water and nutrients come the following season.
New lawns and growth are especially susceptable to insect attacks due to the fact that their root systems are not developed. Cranefly lay their larvae in your grass system most commonly in the fall season. Whereas a small number of larvae will not cause a visibly noticeable amount of damage.
